Nepenthes aenigma is a recently described species from Luzon in the Phillipines. It is closely related to Nepenthes burkei and ventricosa. Strangely, it has been documented to grow in deep shade in its native habitat which is a stark contrast to other intermediate and highland Nepenthes species. We’ve grown it alongside all our other intermediate Nepenthes species and it seems to grow quite well; however, some growers who have more shady conditions plants may find this one particularly good for them. It is found at 1200 meters elevation so it would be best grown as an intermediate but should also grow well in highland conditions and likely as a lowlander as well.
