Nepenthes naga, seed-grown, CAR-0460
Nepenthes naga is a recently described species from the Barisan Range in Indonesia. There are many similarities between this species and N. bongso, but distinguishing characteristics include the leaf shape and a remarkable sub-apical lid appendage reminiscent of a dragon’s tongue, hence the name "naga," which translates to "dragon" in Bahasa Indonesia. We’ve observed some plants growing in mid-elevation forests, so we’ve tried growing them under intermediate conditions where they have thrived (although they also do well in our highland greenhouse).
The plants for sale are seed-grown, produced in-house by crossing our female number two with our incredibly dark naga male. They tend to exhibit a plum coloration when young, which fades to purple or black as they age. The pitchers have a waxy texture that reflects light off the peristome. It’s challenging to capture the full beauty of these plants, even with a DSLR camera.
This product is considered a Highland Tropical plant. Please see our Shipping and Guarantees policy for cold/hot weather shipping guidelines.
