Amorphophallus paeoniifolius, Elephant Foot Yam, Stink Lily
Amorphophallus paeoniifolius is a captivating and exotic addition to any plant enthusiast's collection. Commonly known as Elephant Foot Yam or Stink Lily, this unique plant species hails from tropical regions of Asia and Africa.
Amorphophallus paeoniifolius features a remarkable growth habit characterized by a thick, fleshy tuber that resembles an elephant's foot, hence its common name. The tuber can grow to impressive sizes and serves as a storage organ for the plant's nutrients.
Above the tuber, Amorphophallus paeoniifolius produces large, striking leaves that resemble those of a peony plant. These compound leaves are deeply lobed and have a glossy green color, adding an elegant and tropical touch to any space.
We grow it in a mix of equal parts peat, perlite/pumice and orchid bark and use 1/2 strength osmocote plus applied in the soil every 6 months. We make sure it's always above 60 degrees with high humidity. They die down to their corms periodically and will rest for a few months before putting out new stems.
This product is considered an Intermediate Tropical plant. Please see our Aroid Shipping guidelines and Shipping and Guarantees policy.
