[A252] Nepenthes veitchii Bario NE32C (XL, unpotted)
This is a selected prostrate form veitchii from Malesiana Tropicals that has been circulating in cultivation for over 30 years. It's hard to argue about a classic! This clone has one of the best veitchii shapes out there. Pitchers start off with a pink body and yellow peristome and then the peristomes darkens to a beautiful chocolate color while the body turns golden. This is a female clone.
If we had to pick a favorite species of carnivorous plant then Nepenthes veitchii would certainly be in the running. Most veitchii in cultivation are descendants of plants found at intermediate elevations. However, we have found that veitchii is very tolerant of a wide range of temperatures and have grown them well in our lowland, intermediate and highland houses. Veitchii prefers good drainage and we recommend using an open mix with net pots and an open mix and letting the media dry out to just moist between waterings.
