Nepenthes truncata is one of largest Nepenthes species and one of the most spectacular. It's a Phillipines endemic, native to the islands of Mindanao, Dinagat and Leyte. There's a wide variation of morphology and habitats across its range. Each one is unique and beautiful and we're happy to be working to line breed the best of this beautiful species.
This is a cross between two of our largest forms of truncata. Nepenthes truncata "JB" comes from the collection of the late Jim Bockowski and has produced pitchers 19 inches tall while our truncata (c) - A is from Exotica's Giant line and produces huge pitchers with elaborately flared peristomes. We're not sure of the provenance of the JB plant; however, it's clearly a distinct population from the (c) form so we expect some exceptional vigor since this is a cross between plants from distinct populations.
