This incredible species is now officially accepted as Nepenthes diabolica after unofficially being known as "red hairy hamata" for years. The species is known to reside at high elevations on mountains in Sulawesi. Cultivation of this species is tricky and it will often produce deformed leaves unless ultrahighland conditions are provided. It should be reserved for the experienced highland Nepenthes grower.
