Shipping policy

Plants are shipped to all 50 States and Protectorates of the USA including Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa.  Plants are shipped un-potted with their roots wrapped in sphagnum moss unless otherwise indicated.  Shipping options include USPS or UPS.  Customers will be emailed with tracking information.  Local customers also have the option of curbside pickup.  For international customers, please see more information on international shipments.

We generally ship 1-5 business days after an order is placed.  During times of the year with higher order volume, it may take slightly longer.  We attempt to avoid situations where packages may sit in prolonged storage over a weekend.

Please note that we ship Florawave grow lights near the end of every week.  USPS Express, UPS 3-Day, UPS 2-Day, and UPS Next Day Air are generally shipped Monday through Wednesday to avoid shipping too close to the weekend when postal services come to a halt.

The number of days in transit quoted by USPS Priority Mail and UPS under the shipping options may be inaccurate (we're sorry about this.  We've submitted this bug to Shopify, USPS and UPS for years but they have failed to remedy it).  Please see Description of Mail Service Options below for more details on the service options we offer.

It may take a few hours to one day for tracking to update. The first business day is considered the following day the tracking number is sent. For example, for UPS Next Day Air, it is usually delivered in one business day. If it was sent on Monday, the tracking may not be updated until Tuesday (the first business day), then delivered on Wednesday.

We cannot be held responsible for shipment delays made by the carrier; however, our live arrival guarantee applies to all shipments except those where the customer elects to waive the live arrival guarantee.  (See details below and in our Guarantee and Returns policy)

Customers must provide a delivery address which receives USPS packages.  Please note that if you select UPS shipping, they are unable to deliver to PO boxes.  If there are failed attempts by the shipping carrier to deliver the package, it is the customer's responsibility to contact their local post office (or UPS for UPS shipments) to make delivery arrangements within 2 days of the failed attempt.  Otherwise, we cannot guarantee live arrival.

All shipments are regarded as delivered when indicated as delivered by the carrier's tracking system.  Delivery issues beyond this will need to be brought as a claim with the carrier or local authorities.  We offer signature confirmation as an option for an additional layer of security.

Shipping Ranges and Protective Packaging

Plants are living organisms, and each variety has an ideal temperature range for safe shipping. Our updated system automatically adjusts shipping and protective packaging based on your location and current weather forecasts to ensure live arrival whenever possible.

If temperatures fall outside a plant’s safe range, your shipment may be held or automatically shipped with extra protective measures, such as insulated boxes, heat or cooling packs, or additional packaging layers.

Damaged Packaging

If a product arrives damaged with evidence that the packaging was damaged, we require the customer to contact us immediately and keep the packaging intact so the respective carrier can inspect the parcel for insurance claim purposes.  Failure to do this may result in a waiver of our guarantees.

Description of Mail Service Options

We offer a variety of mailing options via UPS including overnight, 2 day and 3 day service.  We offer UPS Ground delivery options for certain zip codes.  UPS is currently delivering on time more reliably than USPS.  Please also note that UPS does not delivery on Saturday or Sunday.

First Class Mail and Ground Advantage is delivered in 4-10 business days. 

USPS Priority Mail is generally delivered in 1-7 business days depending on the customer location.  Transit times may vary due to regional mail volumes and there may be increased transit time during certain times of the year. 

USPS Priority Mail Express is delivered in 1-2 days to most customer locations (exclusions do apply to some regions)

Carnivero reserves the right to upgrade shipping service at our discretion.  We may reach out to the customer concerning alternate shipping options if additional funds are required for a recommended shipping service.
